HELLO, TRIATHLETES OF THE WORLD!

If you...
1) have never competed in Wildflower Triathlon before
2) have never competed in a triathlon before
3) want to preview the course with your fellow triathletes and an Olympian
4) want to say you swam, bike and ran with an Olympian
5) want to know how to balance your nutrition at a race
6) want to get your swim/bike/run techniques up to par before WF
7) want to just look sexy in your spandex in front of your fellow spandex loving triathletes

CLINIC SCHEDULE:

  • 11:00 - 11:20 AM - Mandatory Athlete Check In & Waiver Signing (Minors Must Have Parent Present To Sign) Intro of coaches, what to expect, hand out of printed outline & notes
  • 11:20 AM - 12:20 PM - Transition set up and T1, T2 demonstrations
  • 12:30 - 1:15 PM - Swim - principals of good swimming and open water tips
  • 1:20 - 1:40 PM - Nutrition discussion: night before, morning of & during race/training
  • 1:45 - 2:15 PM - Run technique with drills and focus points
  • 2:15 - 2:30 PM - Cycling technique with drills and focus points
  • 2:30 - 3:50 PM - Ride of the course - coaches will join athletes for Olympic course, Long Course athletes are welcome to ride the first 12 miles of their course with coaches and then either continue on their own or ride with coaches
  • 3:50 - 4:00 PM - Wrap Up, Q&A

COST:

  • $30 (includes park entry fee)
  • Clinic max capacity = 50 athletes

MEETING LOCATION:

  • Lake San Antonio - Harris Creek Parking Area

WHAT TO BRING:

  • All Swim, Bike, and Run Gear You Plan To Use On Race Day
  • Wetsuit or swimsuit
  • Enough Hydration and Snacks To Last 5 Hours
  • Towel and Change of Clothes
  • A List of Questions to Ask


COACHES:

Victor Plata - 2004 Olympian & USAT Level 1 Coach

Victor Plata has coached athletes in swimming, cycling, and running for over a decade - from high school athletes and collegians, to professionals and Olympic hopefuls. He holds a USA Triathlon Level I certification which he earned at the very first USA Triathlon coaching certification clinic in 1998. An experienced triathlete, Plata competed on the 2004 US Olympic Triathlon Team, 2003 Pan Am Games Team, and multiple elite World Championship teams. Despite experience in close to 200 triathlons in over twenty countries, Plata's favorite race remains Wildflower, where he competed in both Olympic and Long course events, and won the Collegiate National Title in 1997.

Rich Borbon - USAT Level 1 Coach

Rich is an avid triathlete and is currently the President of the Oakland Triathlon Club, having previously served as the Director of Community Outreach. He holds USAT Level 1 and USATF Level 1 coaching certifications and loves watching people be transformed by healthy activities.
